If the Confederate States of America Reunited
That’s pretty interesting.
What the hell why not
because the entire area would be poorer because many of those state are net receivers from the Federal government?
Because geopolitical reality would mean that we’d have access to only the Gulf and the Atlantic and that we’d be easily choked out in wartime?
Because most of those state’s largest trade partner are states that aren’t those states?
So, while I don’t think this is a good idea, it would very possibly work. A good portion (link) of the armed forces that the United States has comes from the southern states, and those states would also be rather self sufficient if they formed a nation. They would likely have a well armed, well trained Army, Navy, etc. The power grid that runs in Texas is also extremely useful, and with the existing lines and wires it wouldn’t be hard to create another power grid. Not having access to any water but the Gulf and the Atlantic would be rather problematic as far as war, but with air travel things of the sort that wouldn’t be as limited as it would have in the past. I still don’t think that it should happen, but I think one day in the not so distant future the United States will begin to split up.
This would also imply that the same federal regulations would be in place in the confederate states. With America’s economic ties, seed/land bank regulations, and all that the Souths agriculture power house has been largely dormant. With a large section of the beef industry and plentiful and incredibly fertile land residing in the South, there’s a strong chance their economic status would improve.
>confederate government allows drilling, energy production, and manufacturing
>becomes richer than the northAnd almost forgot, asberserkerjerksaid, With the South would probably come more conservative leaning swing states, Oklahoma, maybe parts of New Mexico, Arizona, ect. The South would be freed of Northern companies’ continued unfair business acts that contributed to tensions pre-civil war. Basically, if the South wanted to, they could. It would be a damn brawl, but the gun toting southerners with a higher sense of state pride than any northerner has ever had won’t go down easily. Not to mention there’s no rallying cry from civil rights activists that could respark the North’s will to fight after a long drawn out conflict.
Get Alaska on board and the Confederacy 2: Electric Boogaloo is set
I think that MANY other states would join up as well.
OMG I CANT STOP LAUGHING
